Savage Introduces MultiFlex Light Stand with Adjustable Leg
There’s a new patent-pending light stand coming out from Savage, maker of backgrounds and photography products. The Savage MultiFlex Light Stand has one killer feature: a third adjustable leg, which enables the light stand to placed on uneven surfaces, stairs, or rough terrain.
C-Stands have been able to do this for a while, like the popular Kupo C-Stand with Sliding Leg. The adjusting leg makes the stand more useful than just studio work. You could place the sliding leg on stairs, an apple box, an uneven floor, or even outdoors on grass or dirt.
But C-stands can be quite overkill for many portable lighting kits, which is why the new Savage light stand has a lot of potential for traveling filmmakers who are accustomed to using lightweight stands for their lighting and boom audio setup.
The MultiFlex can extend to a wide base, making it wind-resistant as well as more stable with heavier lights. We couldn’t find any details on its weight, but it looks to have a fairly beefy build, but still portable.
The Savage MultiFlex Light Stand comes in two sizes: the standard size goes from 26-75 inches and supports a payload of 9 lbs, while the larger size extends from 39.5-125 inches and has a maximum payload of 8 pounds.
All the legs have telescoping, air-cushioned sections and use flip locks, and there is a bubble level to help with making the stand level during setup.
The stand has the standard 1/4-20″ and 3/8-16″ threads for mounting lights. It also comes with a fastener strap to bind the legs, and a padded carrying bag, for travel and storage. Both the large and small stands are now available at B&H.
