Tamron Announces Development of 17-50mm f/4 Di III VXD Lens
Tamron has unveiled its latest lens innovation, the 17-50mm f/4 Di III VXD lens. This lens is designed to work with Sony’s full-frame mirrorless cameras, with the promise of offering high-quality visuals with a portable form factor.
The lens stands out due to its lightweight and durable design, only weighing 9.1 ounces and with a rugged all-metal body. It features an advanced anti-vibration system to ensure stability and fast autofocusing. This lens is also dust and moisture resistant, allowing it to be used even in the toughest environments.
In terms of optics, the lens impresses with its 16 elements in 12 groups optical layout. This includes two extra low dispersion (XLD) elements and one glass mold aspherical (GM) element to provide excellent sharpness and chromatic aberration control. The lens also has a minimum focus distance of 0.29m, making it great for close-up photography.
The 17-50mm also features an advanced VXD linear motor for fast, responsive autofocus performance. This motor provides quick and silent focusing. Tamron also promises great performance in low-light conditions, as the lens has an f/4 maximum aperture throughout its range.
Tamron’s new 17-50mm f/4 Di III VXD lens is an exciting addition to Sony’s full-frame mirrorless lineup. It provides a great combination of features and performance that make it ideal for many photographers. It is scheduled to be released in 2021, with pricing yet to be announced.
